Just bought a new car yesterday but was expecting it to cost $31,400 with an included rebate of -$1000 included in that price. When I got to the dealership and the pricing was discussed, the woman took off another $1000 for a rebate, even though it had technically already been applied. This made the total come out to $30,400.
This morning I received a call from the sales manager explaining what had happened and if I had time to come in to adjust the price and monthly payment accordingly. I’m currently out of town and told him I’ll talk it over with my parents and for him to call me on Monday.
The contract was signed off by all participating parties so I see no point in taking any responsibility for their mistake. What should I say to them when they call me on Monday? Is there any legal action they can take to get that extra $1000 from me even though it’s signed and done with?
TLDR: Car dealership charged $1000 less by accident b/c they put another rebate on. Expects me to come in and fix it even though it’s signed and done with.
