My ex wife has claimed my son as a dependent on her tax returns for the past two years. Last year, the IRS paid me for it after 6 months of waiting. This year, I’m still waiting for my return. Is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future? Thanks for any help. If this is the wrong place to post this, I apologize.
