When I set up my initial account with at&t I'd pay my monthly bill of $50 with my debit card on the 10th of the month. After a few months I changed to paying with my credit card and that month I was charged on my debit card on the 10th and then charged again on my credit card on the 26th. When I called at&t about the two charges in one month they said when I pay by debit card I pay at the end of the billing cycle and when I pay with credit I have to prepay at the beginning of the billing cycle. Okay, makes sense I guess. I kept paying my bill for another year no problem.
Yesterday I switched to mint ($20 a month for 8gb vs $50 a month for 1gb with at&t) and ported my number over and unlocked my device easily enough. So today is the 25th and my credit card usually autocharges on the 26th (tomorrow) for my at&t bill. I just called at&t to cancel my service and explained to her that since I was prepaying for my bill with credit card and no longer needed their service I shouldn't need to pay for my next month. She was understanding and looked into it and then said I'd need to cancel 4 days before the billing period (I only did 1 day before) and that's as far as I got. I was thinking I should have given it more time but I just switched jobs and was being lazy so I only got in 1 day before the bill.
Should I eat the $50 charge or is there anything else I can do?
