If you’ve ever watched a college movie or been in a giant college auditorium, then you’ve probably seen the slide rails that I’m talking about. You get 2 white boards, and they sit in front or behind the other on their own respective slide track. Either one can move upwards or downwards, or right/left if it is in that configuration. My intention is to mount 2 whiteboard calendars on these type of rails. We found these 2 gigantic framed whiteboard calendars (24”H & 30”W in a wood frame) for really cheap at a sale and I’ve had an idea in my head for some time now to be more organized by planing out 2 months ahead with 2 separate calendars. I know it could be easy enough to simple switch where they hang each month, but I’d like to set them up on a rail system where I can simply erase the finished month, and slide them around to be in order with the next month I marker in.I’ve done some search around to see if anyone just straight up sells these types of rails, but I didn’t have any luck, mainly finding rails for cabinets (which are too short) or for camera systems (which are too big and expensive).YouTube searches provided the right things, but they were just big already made whiteboards with their installation system pre-housed to their boards and their sizes. Probably several hundred dollars as well.I did find one project but it only showed a single board sliding over a stationary one using farm house door sliders on really big boards.Ideally I would like the boards to only take up the amount of space on the wall that the the two of them, plus the rail, covers. I don’t want to leave extra space blank on the wall just because the board would slide over to that side the next month. What would be your steps for building this? (I can be very handy, but my tools are limited to standard power drills and every manual item you would find in a tool chest.) via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2WMRH0C
