Was getting hardwood floors installed in my bungalow when the contractors noticed cracks in the foundation that made them stop. I have a concrete slab foundation so I got a foundation company to come out, install piers and level everything out.Problem is, there was a bit of crumbling at the outer edges of the room that was sinking. After removing the crumbling, there's about a 1" top layer missing at the two outer edges, that comes into the room about 6-12". Here's a video. The foundation guys say it's not their job to patch it so I figured this isn't too big a job...I can just mix some concrete, even it out with a trowel, no problem. I started digging around on the HD website for what to buy and ended up with more questions that general Googling didn't clarify. Basically:What kind of concrete am I looking for here? I'm assuming any patch compounds like this are a no go and I need to get actual concrete?Do I need to do anything special with the baseboards? I figure that if the concrete isn't too runny, I can just let part of it ooze underneath the baseboards and it's no problem. Is that sensible? I've seen people masking off the area completely when using self-levelling concrete, but 1) I thought the self-levelling stuff wouldn't be that big a help here and 2) these two walls are exterior walls so I'm assuming that a little running into the wall isn't a big deal. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2KWb14v
