I am planning to build a deck (10' x 20') on our backyard and would like to get your opinion/suggestions on what I am faced with. We have a concrete stoop on our backyard which is about 1.5 feet high. The clearance between the bottom of the patio door and the concrete stoop is about 8". I am attaching the deck to the house so I have to install the ledger board. I haven't check what our city code is for ledger size but I am looking at 2x8. Unfortunately, I can't fit a 2x8 plus the deck floor (1 inch). Do you guys have a clever idea how to work around this?I am thinking of using 2x8 for ledger board and just notch the area where the concrete stoop is. Then place 2x6 as joists on top of the concrete stoop and use 2x8 for the rest of the joist. I am planning to use composite deck from Trex if that helps. Or completely remove the concrete stoop which I am trying to avoid. Link to the backyard concrete stoop: https://imgur.com/a/i1VUPsHThanks! via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2I7ycqQ
