So I am in an entry level job out of college not making great money but I'm fortunate enough to have no debt at all. Due to the area i live in and my desire to live in an area where there are not shootings or robberies every day, I'm temporarily stuck in a situation where i have to pay nearly 40% of my income in rent untill my girlfriend gets a job and moves in full time with me. My expenses are low enough that I'm typically saving at minimum 20% and some months closer to 45%. The problem is some months I really struggle to pay for the things I want or need. Groceries get tight towards the end of the month and I cant buy other little things i really do need. Example is right now i really need some new clothes for work for the summer as my old ones really need to be replaced. But, I don't have the extra $50 - $100 to just go drop on some new shirts. I know deep down i could probably save a little less here and there to give me that extra wiggle room each month but damn its tough. I feel like if i dont keep saving at this rate something terrible will happen right when i stop and i will have fucked myself over. It feels like im racing to hit my savings goal and if i slow down thats when something bad will happen.
