We're going to undertake a pea gravel patio this weekend, total of around 240sq/ft. It's basically going to be an extension of an existing low-level deck. Planning to use stone edging. I'm in the midwest with clay-based soil. Planning to work and smooth the soil some, put down landscape fabric/weed block and do 2" of pea gravel with some stepping stones/flagstone in a few spots. My question is whether I need to do a base layer of something like AB3 or brick sand under the pea gravel, or if I should just put the pea gravel right on top of the landscape fabric. Or something else? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2Vt5ol0
