Fitted and hanging!Hi!My partner and I hand made a sliding door from start to finish. Very much a 'Pinterest' project but we are incredibly happy with the result :)I've attached some of the building progress pictures for those of you interested how we did it.It is a little rough around the edges at places, but let us know what you think, always looking for ways to improve!!Started with cutting the base board the right size, we had to combine two base boards to get the full size of the door. aprox 200cm x 75cmDrawing some centerlines on the base boardsNow the fun starts, cutting all the beams in 45 degree angles, you can start to create your own mosaic. We went with a pretty simple design as this is our first attempt at making a door like this.Almost done with the woodcutting! Then we painted all the wood in the colors we wanted. Make sure you keep track of the original location on the baseboard so you know how to put it all back :DTime to glue and after that use the nailgun to get everything nice and tight in place.Drying the wood.Added the backside (a much simpler design) making the total weight of the door 45kgs.Now we had to add the outer frame which would keep it all nice and together. On the bottom part of the frame we created a groove that would follow a pin placed in the floor (to keep the door from swinging outwards).Making the 'tracking' grooveFrame fitted🎉Added the wheels on the top.Done!!We had a ton of fun creating this over the weekend as we continue our litte home makeover.Let us know what you think and how you would improve!
