My wife had a job at a hospital many years ago and at one point she was contributing to a 401k (403b and 401a). Anyway, she has worked at a private office for years (which has no 401k) so she lets that money sit there. It’s not a lot of money - but it’s a decent chunk (about 25k between the two accounts in a Fidelity account). It’s not being contributed to any more and is dormant. She said she was told to just leave it and “Forget about it”.
Is that good advice? I wish the money was in our bank-system for some reason - but I really can’t get a good idea on what to do with it. Maybe leaving it is the best advice?
