I'm thinking about moving to Stockholm, Sweden from NYC for a potential job opportunity. I think it would be a great experience, but I'm trying to wrap my head around the currency & pay difference between the two cities. My husband and I don't anticipate staying in Sweden for longer than 1-3 yrs., and at the same time we're also trying to save for a home when we're ready to move back to New York. We planned to buy a home in roughly 3 years, but would us moving and working in Sweden, making SEK, radically take us off track on our USD savings for a home in New York since the currency isn't 1:1? For context, I make around 120k/yr in USD, and it sounds like Sweden's avg salary in my industry is around kr 36K/mo. I'm hoping to get more insight into the Swedish currency and saving abilities, or if anyone has gone through something similar. Thank you!
