In Moderating the subreddit, I have noticed a trend of reporting blogs as spam.
Clearly what is and isn't spam is very subjective, and we are not all going to agree.
This is an attempt to get everyone on the same page. The financial planning subreddit has always been more tolerant of money blogs, so understand that just because a post is from a blog doesn't mean it is necessarily spamming.
What we allow: posts that are written to provide value and information to the reader.
What we do not allow (spam): Post wrote to drive traffic to affiliate products, advisory services, and advertisements.
Again some of this may be subjective; however, an easy test is to ask is this post designed to sell or teach? If you see a post that is an advertisement report it as spam, we will delete the post and ban the poster.
If you find that the blog is of poor quality but not spam, then downvote the post as Reddit was designed.
Note to bloggers:
While this sub is more tolerant of blogs, it is not a forum to drop links or spam your content. It is expected you follow Reddit guidelines regarding self-promotion. Be active in discussions, participate, and contribute relevant content and advice.
"It is ok to be a Redditor with a blog; it's not ok to be a blog with a Reddit account."
