My son saw an optometrist in Oct 2017 for an annual eye exam. I started to get invoices in February of this year for $153. I called the billing department and asked why after all this time am I getting a bill and they said it's because my son needed a referral for an eye exam and my balance after insurance was due. I called insurance and they said wrong, annual eye exams are covered 100% as long as you go to an in network provider (we did). I asked insurance to reprocess the claim and they did. I got another invoice in March which I ignored, and another in April. I called the insurance company to find out the status of the claim and they said a check for $153 was mailed to the Optometrist on 3/1 and cashed on 3/14. It's May now and ONCE AGAIN, I got an invoice in the mail for $153.
In April, I emailed the two people in this optometrist's billing department saying look, you CASHED THE CHECK STOP SENDING ME INVOICES, but apparently that did no good. Of the phone numbers I have, one has a full voicemail box and the other never returns my calls.
I'm so tired of this but I really don't want it to get escalated to collections. How the hell can I get through to them???
