Let me preface this by saying just how much I hate painting. Generally I will do most anything to avoid it. So when my wife asked me to build some barn doors for the new bathroom that she wanted to be painted Navy blue I shuddered at the idea of spending my weekend spraying a coat, waiting for them to dry enough for a second coat, repeat, repeat, flip, repeat, etc. This is why I was very excited to grab the 1/2 preprimed blondewood ply for the base and preprimed 1×4's for the detail. However, once I got home and the glee of possibly being able to one coat the doors faded I realized I had a problem...the wood glue was not going to bond worth a damn to the primed wood.My thought is I can plane the back of the 1x4 to get them down to 3/4 giving me a good surface for bonding on them but I can't do much about the 1/2 blondewood ply. I'm going to be pin nailing with one inch brads but glue wise should I go with CA glue? Maybe some construction adhesive?Any advice would be appreciated. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2H8N3PR
