I usually get blonde foils, but I'm never happy with the colour, so I end up going far too often to get more out through. I spend at least $1000 ($Aud) a year just on foils, which is ridiculous. Then there's so much waste created with the foils, so I'm going DIY. I've done DIY as a teen, had super brassy hair, but toner and purple shampoo wasn't around back then. I dyed blonde a few weeks ago ($19), went brassy. I did some reading - turns out high ammonia dye is better for preventing brassyness. I've gone over with a high ammonia blonde dye (2 boxes, on sale, $9 each) $18. There's a bit of hair fall, the roots are a bit brassy, but for once I actually like the colour. What are your experiences with DIY hair colour?
