I tried calling our dog's microchip company but dialed 1-800 instead of 1-888. The system informed me that the microchip company's phone system was down, so they're offering $100 rebate gift cards as an apology for the inconvenience. All I have to do is pay the activation fee.... I was confused because I was sure I dialed the right number, and they answered with the name of the microchip company, so I really did believe it. I gave them my credit card info, my birthday, my email, and my home address. I told my husband right after because I already knew I fucked up, and so he helped me freeze our credit cards. Now what? They have all my other information. What can I do, what can they do, what's going to happen? How bad is this? I'm so embarrassed for falling for this. Please help, any advice is greatly appreciated!
