How do I assemble wooden bed frame with lock washer, flat washer, bolt and wingnut?

I'm confused because the frame is wood. I thought I needed a flat washer to protect the wood on both the nut and the bolt side but this is what it came with- one flat washer, one lock washer, one wingnut and one bolt.
