Hello!

I received a letter today from my original home loan servicer, HomeStreet Bank, indicating that PennyMac Loan Services, LLC is now my loan servicer effective immediately and that HomeStreet will forward payments for 90 days.

Aside from having to change who I pay my mortgage to, what else is changing that I would not be aware of as a typical consumer?

Are there any rights that I have in regards to my loan servicer up and changing?

I plan on calling HomeStreet tomorrow to confirm this is going down and not just some scam. I just got home from a long workday and thought it would be a good idea to ask the fantastic hive mind that is r/personalfinance if I should be wary or concerned.

Also, why or how does this happen? This is my first mortgage, S/O and I have perfect payment history, and good credit scores with near perfect payment histories.
