I’m looking for options to cool off my house in the summer without running the air conditioner. The old part of the house stays fairly cool. It’s in the shade almost all day and with the little windows open, it’s bearable. But the addition has 5 sets of double sliding doors and sunlight pours in almost all day. I have screens on most the doors and can open them. I have 2 overhead fans in that room. And I own 3 box fans that I can use. But with the drapes (they do still let light in) are shut, the screened doors are open, the overhead fans are on, and I put a box fan sucking air out, it still gets in the upper 80s. Are there any other tips of how I can utilize what I have to try to keep it cooler? Even 80 would be tolerable.
Western NC with summer highs in upper 80s.
