We picked up some reclaimed barn wood to use as book shelves and bought some floating shelf brackets. Now I'm faced with figuring how to drill the holes for the rods. The rods are 3/4" in diameter and 6" long. The boards are about 1 3/4" thick. I have a bench top drill press, but that does not have anywhere near the clearance for the depth of the shelves (about 12") let alone the auger bit.Should I use build a jig to use with a hand drill or a big jig to hang off side of the drill press to hold the shelf? Are there other methods I don't know about? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2W4ALl8
