http://bit.ly/2JyUC5w am planning on building a backyard clubhouse on stilts for my kids. Quick mockups linked. Dimensions aren't finalized, but the posts will probably be 5' apart and 5' tall, and the house itself built on top.I am mostly looking for safety concerns. I have not had any deck-building experience.I'm thinking of pressure-treated 4x4s for the posts, and regular dimensional pine for everything else. The posts will be sunk into the ground, which is common for decks in my area. Someone on Reddit earlier recommended this post backfill stuff instead of quickrete, so I was thinking of using that.Beams could either sit on top of the posts, or I could get thicker posts and notch them and use bolts, I don't know if there's a significant difference. And joist hangers for the joists.I would like to have a slight cantilever like in my mockups above, I don't know if there's anything I need to think about for that.Any other thoughts appreciated, thanks. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2Vfa0G6
