Hello! Let me know if this is the wrong place to post! I’m freaking out about this situation and need some guidance.
I got Section 12ed (MA’s law on involuntary commitment to a psychiatric hospital) about a month and a half ago. My therapist brought me to the ER and they sectioned me and kept me for a night begins finding a bed at a hospital an hour and a half away. I asked if someone could drive me out and they said it has to be by ambulance. I was transported my the ambulance and assumed since it was 100% out of my control my insurance would at least pay for much of it.
fast forward to yesterday when i get a bill from the ambulance company for $5,672. The original bill is 11K, my insurance payment is already deducted, and I have absolutely no idea what to do. I do not have this much money, I will not have it in the new future, I am in the midst of planning to move to a larger city and go back to college. My questions are 1) should i call the insurance company or the ambulance company to talk about reducing the bill? 2) is there any chance of getting it reduced? 3) does it make any kind of difference that I had no choice in this?
Thank you for any responses and let me know if I posted this in the wrong place!! Thanks!
