Hello PF,
This is a throw away since it consists of personal information regarding my salary etc.
I am 25 Years old, moved out last year and this is my 2nd year in my apartment (I just renewed my lease due to financial reasons) I have been living Paycheck to Paycheck and need to get some insight if I am in over my head financially as I am trying to change this. I have never been good with money due to poor examples growing up but taking responsibility now. Hoping for guidance and insight from PF on my situation.
Here is a break down of my monthly expenses currently:
Cell Phone: $90
Car Insurance:$165
Car Note:$430
Electricity:$80
Internet:$90
Water:$20
Rent:$1645
Parking:$125
Gas:$150
Subscriptions:$60 (Netflix,Amazon Prime, Etc)
Food:$500-$800 (Using mint this is how much I spend on food a month its bad I know)
Debts:
Car Loan:$23,000
Navy FCU Credit Card:$3,800 (Maxed)
Medical Bill in collections:$1,500
Monthly Take Home After Taxes: $4,672
Embarrassingly I have been living check to check a majority of my life and since moving out it has only gotten worse I can not go on trips take my GF on a trip have money for others birthdays special events etc sometimes I feel like I bust my ass at work for nothing but I get that its because of my own financial ignorance. My credit has also tanked from a low 700 to barely 600 in the past year as well. I really need to get charge of this aspect of my life as its affecting all others. Any guidance, support, sound financial advise is greatly appreciated.
Edit: I am looking at mint to see where the hell my left over money is going month to month, again I am really bad managing money so don't have a good grasp on this.
Edit: I have gone ahead and added a break down of my spending in March as an example since a lot of you are asking where the rest of the income is going.
Edit: For those making comments about rent costs I live in the greater D.C Metro Washington Area
Thanks!
