Long story short, I'm active duty military, stationed in Hawaii. I use Turbo Tax for my tax returns, and I mistakenly put down Hawaii as my residency (I'm from Florida). I already did the whole process with Turbo Tax and submitted my state returns/federal returns. The federal returns got accepted and the state return is pending.
Basically, since I'm from Florida I wouldn't be paying state taxes. Since I mistakenly put down Hawaii as my residency, I would be paying $1070. (This is only my second time filing taxes, new to this adult stuff and making stupid choices). So my question for anyone who uses Turbo Tax is, since the state return is still pending, are they going to notice that I put the wrong residency down and give me the chance to fix it? Or is it too late and now I have to cough up $1000?
(P.S.) Turbo Tax does not provide me the option to change my state now that I have already submitted the state returns.
