Hardwood flooringRecently I discovered that I had unfinished hardwood flooring under the laminate in my kitchen/dining room. It appears that the hardwood floor was put down, but never finished. Then carpet was placed over it, and eventually the carpet was removed and a floating laminate floor was installed. There are some large strips of carpet felt as well as staples. We’ve been removing both slowly. There is some light damage in areas and some gapping in others. Also, i have no idea what kind of wood it is. I thought pine at first, but it is way too hard to be pine. Anyone have any idea what kind of wood it might be? Is there a way to finish these floors to make them look as old as they are? My guess is they’re from the 50’s when the house was built. There is no other flooring between it and the subfloor. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2G5vTDv
