I used stripper to strip the varnish off this desk and it came off very well. I then used mineral spirits to clean it. I then primed it with Zinsser primer. After I primed it this weird color/pattern was still showing through. I should have stopped there and asked for help but me being me, I thought I could cover it with a coat of paint.
