TL;DR:
I have lots of idle cash, but I don’t know if it’s enough for a stockbroker to be interested in managing it.
The full story:
I am 18, but I have around $15,000 in savings and a few thousand in stocks. I feel like this is a lot for my age, but I would rather get a head start on financial planning so that it can be helpful after I graduate college (in 3 more years). I am too busy with my studies to manage stocks myself, so for now I feel safer with cash.
My 3 year outlook:
Investing is important to me, especially when I won’t be receiving much income during college (summer internships will yield about ~ $7000 after tax, but also, my cost of living is higher, so I’ll only walk away with about $2000 at the end of summers). I am considering putting internship money towards an IRA. Also, my living expenses during college semesters is not very high since my amazing parents are covering tuition and boarding - I am extremely lucky and thankful.
Any advice for managing my money over the next 3 years?
