Hi all,

I have always been under the impression that Roth is better than traditional for 90% plus of the population but I have just thought of something that might say otherwise so I am hoping someone can help shed the light on this.

Based on the 2019 tax brackets, if my current tax rate as MFJ is 22% and my retirement tax rate is likely to be lower than that at 12%, shouldn't I contribute to the traditional IRA as much as I can to keep myself at the lower bracket of 12% for an instant 10% tax saving as opposed to contribute post-tax when the market average return is only 7%?

Edit: Wow, it sure is both enlightening and confusing to read all of your insights. Thanks everyone!!!
