Replacing spring retainer on washing machine

Hi all. Replaced the door seal on my hoover washing machine. But the inside retainer is just a spring one not one that screws and in loosens. It’s now impossible to get back on. Any tips? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2UVRwyy
