I live in a mobile home, and pay lot rent and a mortgage for it. I really want to move, as I feel I am paying way too much money for things that they don't offer. I could live in an apartment and have a bigger space, and pay less. The question is how do I get out of this bad investment?

Selling it is out of the question. I owe too much on it still to really turn a profit at all. Plus I would have to spend all that time waiting to sell, and would have trouble moving into a place. The other option that was presented to me is to find an apartment and move in, and then just pack up all of our stuff and stop paying the park. This would mean we would get evicted, but we are already living at the apartment so the eviction wouldn't really count against us. That seems like bad advice, but I'm not sure what else to do.

If we do get evicted, what happens to the trailer? If I can't live on the park, but I still own the trailer, I wouldn't want to keep paying for something that I couldn't live in. I'm not allowed to move the trailer until it is paid off completely. I don't have a home loan, but instead it's a personal loan. My friend says this basically works the same way as owning a car. If you miss a payment on a car, the company can come and repossess it. Does it work the same way with a trailer? And if it does, wouldn't that put a bad mark on my record at all? It just seems like that would be too easy and everyone would do it if there were no consequences.

I would be happy to stay if all of the problems got fixed, but I really see no legal way to address these with the park and get things done. Calling corporate doesn't help, and honestly I don't want to rock the boat too much. It is happened to one of our neighbors who tried to get the rest of the tenants riled up, and then they started getting violation after violation on their house, such as having trash in their yard, or the wrong kind of curtains.

What can I do?
