Virginia. LTLFTC Long-time listener first time caller here. I have been in a (heterosexual if it matters) relationship for 9 years. We have a signed domestic partnership agreement - holds basically no weight in Virginia- which allows my partner to be on my health insurance. We’ve both been married with children. His children are all legal adults and there are no more financial obligations involved. My children are minors and my ex and I each have one kid. No child support. This is all background info. My partner has a lot of debt. Medical, IRS, Parent plus student loans. I have no interest at all I’m taking on any of that debt. How can we get married without me taking on equal responsibility for those debts? Thank you for time. I’m happy to answer more questions if needed.
