The recent decline of objects goes beyond decluttering, so why are we suddenly so keen on getting rid of things? And what role do objects play in our increasingly digital world? This essay follows the rise and fall of 'stuff', through art, philosophy and Marie Kondo.
I follow a film essayist, Grace Lee/ What's so Great about that? on youtube. (I love her Last Unicorn video)
Though, she just published a video essay about Marie Kondo, decluttering, etc. I thought others might find interesting as it's likely to fall through the cracks.
I know reddit isn't that fond of youtube videos but I think Lee had something thoughtful to say here.
I like hearing wax poetic things like this or the History of the Home by Lucy Wolsey (ex: why we had those plate display cases) or Past time living, Tudor Monastery/Victorian/Edwardian Farm series.
