Inkjet: Hp Officejet Pro 9000 series uses Hp 962XL ink which equates to .022 cents for monochrome pages and .063 cents for color pages. This is using Amazon $ 48.89 for about 2000 pages for Black. Amazon for color is $34.89 dollars for 1,600 pages= .022 for a single color. If all three colors are used than it about .066 cents for color.
Laser: Now looking at the Canon 731 CDW, the 046H for Blacks 119 dollars/6300 pages=.018 cents. Colors are 181.96/5,000=.036 cents per page. For all three colors, it about .108 for color.
Each toner replaces the drum and the toner as well. The inkjet only replaces the ink cart, not the printer head.
Note:Inkjet ink does dries up and there is a waste pad for keeping the nozzle moist.
Laser have waste toner bottle.
