I'm pivoting on my original idea to make a storage shed and instead make it into an unattached living space, complete with full electrical, insulation, a bed loft, walls, paint, and flooring. I am not experienced in construction and many of the steps I'm about to lay out, would be my first time attempting them. What I have devised from my internet research, is that I have about 9 different steps to go through to finish the project. What I have completed thus far, is a basic 10L*16W*8H (with 5' gable roof) storage shed, with some windows, door framed and a large opening for a large door. (Add pictures here)StepBasic outline1Complete planning (materials, cost, time)2Re-framing doors, windows3Building the loft (+maybe storage loft?)4Electrical (sub panel breaker) + internet5Insulation + vapor barrier6Drywall7Paint8Flooring (Vinyl)9Finishing touchesI'm going way more in depth on all of these topics in my own research, but I just wanted to bounce this off some minds that are more experienced to see if I'm missing something blaringly obvious, and maybe get some direction in my project. So to reiterate, the end goal is to have a well framed, insulated, wired (electric + internet), safe and good looking space that would be used for 1-2 people to live in, like an unattached bedroom of sorts. Plumbing / kitchen etc. are not required, the max strain on the electric for example, would be a mini fridge, flatscreen TV, small heater / AC unit, laptop and lights.Thank you for looking over my post, and thank you in advance for all your wisdom.Edit: I will iikely repost this tomorrow morning when the sun comes out and I can get some decent photos of what I have so far. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2IaTi8T
