We are redoing our basement since flooding from the Winter ruined the carpet. Our goal is Lifeproof laminate flooring (looks like wood). I patched the floor with compound and it is not perfect but it is better than dips due to missing tile. Due to the floor being uneven and worrying about sound, I added noise-dampening felt underlayment. I have 2 questions now that I am running into an odd spot.Does the underlayment need to be taped to the wall? (The Home Depot guy mentioned this, he was generally unhelpful but I have not found corroborating information online)What should I do about this small gap? Should I cut a long strip to fit or is there a much more intelligent solution?I DIY and this is completely new territory. From entrance, able to see up to stairsFrom stairs, looking back towards square part of basementLaid down the underlayment, no tape yet, small gapLooking good but what do I do about the gap? And do the underlayment need to be taped to the wall as extra protection from water? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2ZcDaJr
