A few years ago, I hired a contractor through my realtor to redo my upstairs bathroom. About six months after completion, the caulk between our ceramic tile and acrylic jacuzzi tub started to come loose from the tub. I removed the old caulk, weighed down the tub with water and some weights, and redid the caulk. Everything worked great for about nine months before it started to come loose again. I've basically had to redo the caulking every six to nine months for the last three years, and I'd love any wisdom or suggestions to make the next application (this week, unfortunately) a more permanent solution. The gap between the tile and tub is 1/4", with a decrease down to 1/8" at the corner. I have been meticulous about removing old caulk from both the tile and the tub, used 100% silicone for each application, and even used foam backer rod the last two times I caulked the gap. Nothing has held up. Maybe the gap is too large or the tub is too flexible, but I'm stuck with what I have and am in touch with neither the contractor nor the realtor. Happy to answer any questions and/or provide pics for more context, and thanks for any assistance you folks can provide! via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2XW22DL
