I'm putting a steel roof on my garage in June. I'm looking for advice, but also good links where I can do some research. It is a straight gable roof, each side is 38' long and 15' along the rake. There are no valleys or anything else, except a long-disused chimney that will be removed. I am debating adding a 'dormer'-type piece over the garage door so 1) water is diverted away from by drive instead of pouring right off the roof; and 2) I don't want to add any gutters. Roof has a solid deck made of pine 1x8 boards, it is solid. It will have a ridge vent, nothing else. Uninsulated, and not heated. Can I put the steel right on the roof deck after I paper it?
