I had a rear molar extracted and I'm thinking about getting a dental implant to replace it. I have no dental insurance and my dentist wants to charge $2,825. Is that a reasonable price? Is it a good idea to let a dentist do the work as opposed to another type of specialist (oral surgeon, periodontist, etc.)?

I'm also looking into have the implant done at a local dental school. Does anyone have any experience with that? If so, how much did you save versus any problems?

Thanks!
