Hello All,If anyone is familiar with Costco's EKO Motion Sensor trash can then they would know that it eats batteries like nothing. I want to get rid of this issue by directly soldering a DC charger to the battery contacts. I saw someone did something similar on youtube and wanted to try it out as well, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et8GnTBkxXQ However, this is my first DIY and I am not very experienced so I would like to double check my plan with other eyes.Opening up the insides, I would have to solder the DC charger wires to the contact (positive to the bump and negative to the other mound/spring). Then I would have to cut the contact in two so I don't get a short.Images: http://bit.ly/2ZHskuY I see what everyone is saying now after opening up the internals. http://bit.ly/2UNewM9 I will add a barrel plug connector, but I think I would need to cut a hole in the upper portion for the connector to rest and allow the removal of the bin when desired. However what kind of tool would allow me to cut the plastic? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2PDHoFC
