I had read on this subreddit time and time again about how people have saved money by calling about medical bills. Thank you, thank you to everyone that has ever posted about this. I owed $1,900 and was definitely not expecting insurance to leave me with that much. All I had done was a consult and a CT. So the first thing I did was send message through their online services and was offered a 5% discount if I could pay in full within 30 days. This was literally like $95 so the difference was almost nothing to me. I decided to call and after providing my year income, I was approved for 60% financial support. What I owe was dropped to around $750. What a game changer. I will never pay another ridiculous medical bill again without calling. Thank you r/personalfinance for making my day.
