NOTE: The below is my idea; I HAVEN'T CREATED IT YET.

(30Male) I've been reading a lot of the Schwab [ETF] posts here and wanna make sure this post isn't too redundant of others. I'm planning on putting in my 2019 6k IRA contribution plus 2k pre-existing cash, making for $8k available in my Schwab IRA. Please look at my projected asset allocation below- I'd like to be sure it's a good, diversified balance before I invest. Because I'm 30, I have no Bond allocations and am stacking pretty heavy on Large Cap and some other risky assets.

ETFS (60%)

  • SCHX (Large Cap) GOAL: 15% (Possibly switched to SCHB- see below)
  • VIG (Div Appreciation-Large) GOAL: 17%
  • SCHM: (Mid-cap) GOAL: 5%
  • SCHA: (Small-cap) GOAL: 5%
  • SCHE: (Emerging) GOAL: 5%
  • SCHD: (Dividend) GOAL: 8%
  • SCHF: (Int’l) GOAL: 5%

Mutual Funds (40%)

  • FDSVX (Large Growth) GOAL: 25% (This fund has been a powerhouse for me for 6 years)
  • SWPPX (S&P 500 index) GOAL: 10%
  • SNXFX (1000 Index) GOAL: 5%

I'd appreciate any constructive ideas/criticism/comments on this allocation and the below points:

  1. I'm thinking of replacing SCHX with SCHB. SCHA and SCHM have some overlap with SCHB, but I'd like to have designated positions on Sm and Mid-caps.
  2. Am I too spread out? Too many funds? Too much overlap (esp with the Mutual funds)?
