Hi! So I’m 18 and about to graduate high school next month. In the fall I’m going to a state college with a full tuition scholarship.
Right now I work two jobs, one on weekdays about 10hr a week for minimum wage ($7.25). My hours at this job will likely go up after I graduate high school and am available to work more. My second job is $11 an hour for 8hrs on weekends.
Right now I have about $1,500 in savings, $300 in checking account, and I’m starting to save from every pay check. What advice could you give me for my future success in personal finance?
I’ve been reading a lot about building my credit score. I was thinking about getting a discover student card to just buy gas on and pay it off every month. I don’t know if I should start building credit this young or not.
Any suggestions?
Edit: Also, are there any personal finance books I could read to get a better understanding of things? I’ve looked at some but they can be confusing!
