I have been trying to do a better job of using the presentations on investor relations sites of companies to learn more about their business and strategy. From the few companies I have been looking at, some do a better job than others of presenting their strategy and goals.

For example, Altria's (MO) website and SEC filings were very easy to understand what they do, how well they are doing it, and what their goals are. Their presentation highlights were also consistent with highlights in their recent earnings call. Royal Caribbean Cruise's (RCL) presentations and SEC filings, in my opinion, did not do as good of a job at helping me understand the business. It gave fine information on the financials sure, but not really on what their services or current projects are. I learned more about what they are doing on the earnings call than from the available information online.

What does everyone else here do to learn more about what a company truly does to make make money?
