For years I used The Wirecutter and The Sweethome to get recommendations for countless products. Not once did I have a bad experience with an item. However, ever since the NYT takeover, it's down-right bad. A new review for throw blankets has to be a joke. Seriously, 8 blankets and only 1 is under a hundred dollars, another nearly 300. This would be fine if they were all 'upgrade' picks. I'm happy with my $25 'budget' pick.
Any other sites that do in-depth reviews for a wide variety of products?
Edit (from a comment I made): Essentially what I'm saying is, the reviews used to be for people that were working on a budget for every item, but didn't want to 'waste' money on a 'broken in a year' item. In other words, what's a quality item I can get by spending a little more on than the entry level crap selection and not have to worry about having to replace in a year or two. The upgrade picks were for the best of the best. Now it seems the reviews are for the 'best of the best' and if you want an affordable, but durable, pick you're on the wrong website.
