Hello!

I graduated in May 2018 with a BS in finance and a minor in data analysis, I went to a good public university and did well in school.

  • Definitely not bragging I just want to outline the fact that I have a decent foundation of financial knowledge to bring to an entry level position

I am now working as a financial reporting analyst for an investor services company. This is an ok gig but far from my dream job... I’m hoping to either get into wealth mgmt, IB, or trading.

I’m taking CFA Level 1 in June and really considering looking into taking some coding courses for SQL, C++, and/or python immediately after, I have recently decided that coding would be a huge asset for me if I pursue any of those fields I mentioned above.

I am sitting on about 60k student loans and don’t see how I can realistically begin paying those off until i have an annual income of at least ~60k where I can pay large chunks out of my disposable income.

Right now I have $8k in savings and would like to start investing on my own so I get some real experience and build my knowledge foundation for a (hopeful) career in the stock market that I would likely start at some point in the middle of this year.

Is this wise? How would you go about paying off such a large debt?
