Most will consider this a stupid question because of how many variables there are, I'm just looking for a ball park number, or some individual results to use for reference. The reason is that I have 3 kids, when each child was born our family has donated $3,000 to invest for their future. I'm ashamed to say that due to some unfortunate circumstances the money for our first two children was spent elsewhere with the promise that we would pay it back to our kids when we could. Well we finally can, however I want to account for what the portfolios would have earned over the past 5 years so I'm not cheating our older two kids out of earnings because we borrowed their money. I'm obviously not looking for an exact number, but something in the ballpark so I can try to set things right.
