Hey reddit, Andrew here.
It goes without saying that the right fit of clothing is the most important factor in looking good. The problem? Standard, mass produced sizes fit only a small percentage of the population well (some estimate as little as 15%).
I've got an idea to tackle this problem and I'd love to get your feedback. Here's the gist of it:
- User downloads an app, inputs specific body measurements
- User orders clothing online from any retailer (H&M, Zara, Gucci... – doesn't matter)
- Before the order is delivered to the user, it makes a stop at a tailor for a "last mile alteration"
- User receives their clothing perfectly tailored to their body
If you could see yourself using something like this, I'd love to know.
I'd also like to start a discussion about tailored clothing and get your thoughts/feedback/criticism on my idea. Here are a few things that are bothering me:
- What's the right pricing? The idea is to make it fit the masses.
- Which clothing is easy to alter and which isn't? The more the better of course, but can't start with everything.
- Altered clothes are hard to return – is it a final sale?
- ...?
I've got the means to get this off the ground, but I'm not 100% sold on the idea. So I'd really appreciate as much feedback as I can get.
Thanks!
