Nvidia to buy Israel’s Mellanox for $6.8 billion in a data center push

Chipmaker Nvidia said on Monday it will buy Israeli chip designer Mellanox Technologies for $6.8 billion in cash.

The deal is Nvidia’s biggest-ever acquisition and is expected to boost its business of making chips for data centers.

Nvidia outbid Intel in the auction for Mellanox.
