She is getting a graduate degree in May and this was the cost for the absurd cosplay-looking mumu she had to buy (unless she was to be the only one in normal clothes up there).
This was the cheaper option, some of her classmates are paying $1800. This is already after paying more than $5k per semester in tuition we've had to cover the whole way.
Also, there is nowhere to rent this stuff. It's more than she spent on a wedding dress, so that for a few hours she can look like a wizard. She says they are all custom fit, but frankly they look like a bed sheet with a hole poked through anyway.
Not looking for advice, just ranting. And no I didn't get mad at her, it's not her fault the school got into our pockets one last time.
