I just broke my last blender that was a cheap $75 Bruan blender. It had problems with even basic smoothie blending, but after doing a couple blocks of cheese the plastic teeth that spin the blades completely shred themselves.

Now I have a bit of money I can spend on a decent blender, but I do plan on blending a lot of cheese with it (I make my own pizzas and blending the cheese makes for super fast grating).

I am looking at Vitamix blenders, but I'm not sure if any Vitamix is good or if you should ignore their cheaper ones?

Edit: So after looking at Vitamix online for a while I decided to buy a reconditioned A2500. Hopefully this will be the last blender I need to buy for at least 10 years.
